Seeing Elton John for the first time singing and playing the piano at Dodger Stadium, inspired my love of music and performing. I was only 9 at the time but it sparked my interest in piano, song writing, performing in choirs, Young Americans, solo gigs, and eventually fronting bands.
In 1986, I joined the Navy as a Cryptologic Technician and put music on hold for 4 years.
There have been some very cool experiences along the way, like playing The Hanger at the OC Fair, performing as 300 people dance the night away at Orange Street Fair, and singing live for millions on the LA radio station 95.5 KLOS. In 2009, I entered a contest on the Mark and Brian Show and I was given the opportunity to sing and perform live with Styx and REO Speedwagon on stage. I won and sang back up for them at the Nokia Theater for their encore of “Can’t Stop Rockin.” You can see me and my friends trying to be cool here: .
The artists who have influenced me the most would be Elton John, Styx, Journey, Tears for Fears, and the Beatles. One of the things I’ve loved about new experiences like joining Vinyl Vault is the challenge of learning new material that I would have never performed previously. Vinyl Vault has given me the opportunity to share vocals, play keyboard, and create harmonies with guys who are established and bring a great energy to the rock n’ roll experience of the 70’s and 80’s.
I’m currently playing a Roland DS88 with the occasional Roland XP-10 thru my Behringer Ultrtone KXD15 amp.
